How the lines differ, finishes, appliance pulls and FAQ

Ashley Norton has designed architectural hardware since 1987. Its cabinet hardware comes three ways:

Solid Bronze: sand cast from art-grade bronze, so every piece has the soft, slightly irregular texture of a real casting. Dark Bronze, Natural Bronze, White Bronze and Medium White Bronze are hand-applied living patinas that lighten where hands touch and deepen everywhere else. Matte Black is a powder coat.

Solid Brass: hot forged for crisp lines and a clean, even finish, in Satin Nickel, Polished Chrome, Polished Nickel, Satin Brass, Unlacquered Brass, Dark Oil Rubbed and Flat Black. Unlacquered Brass, Polished Nickel and Dark Oil Rubbed are living finishes that patina with use.

Manzoni: Ashley Norton's designer range, from the modern Urban, Stainless Steel and Nordic collections to the period-style Classical and Mystic collections and Designer Wood in oak, walnut and black stained ash.

Appliance pulls: most come in Thru Bolt, Surface Mount and Back to Back Pair. Surface mount needs a solid wood door at least 1 1/4" thick, and back to back pairs work on doors up to 3". Call us before you order and a specialist will confirm the mount for your panels.

What is a living finish?

A living finish has no protective lacquer, so it changes with touch, climate and time. Bronze patinas lighten where hands rest, and unlacquered brass warms and darkens. If you want the look to stay as it is on day one, choose a lacquered or powder-coated finish.
