Passage has no lock and goes on halls, closets and pantries. Privacy has a push-button lock for bedrooms and baths. Dummy has no latch and is surface mounted, for closet pairs and the inactive side of French doors. Most homes need all three.
Stand on the side the door swings away from and look at the hinges. Hinges on the left means left handed, on the right means right handed. Knobs work either way; many levers are handed. We'll confirm it with you before anything is ordered.
Backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the bore hole. Emtek's standard latch is 2-3/8", and 2-3/4" is available. If you're replacing hardware, measure your existing doors, or ask us and we'll walk you through it.
